The 44th annual Chicago Pride Parade cruised through Lakeview on Sunday with 200 floats, dozens of politicians, thousands of onlookers and a lot of color and flair.
Officials estimate that nearly 1 million people attended the parade, which starts at Montrose Avenue and weaves through Uptown, East Lakeview and ends at Belmont Avenue.
The event took on extra meaning as it came days after the U.S. Supreme Court overturned DOMA, a major victory for LGBT marriages.
Chicago Tribune's RedEye reported that 53 people were arrested at the parade and at celebrations afterward, including one woman who allegedly hit an officer with her pride flag.
